John wrote a worldview-shattering truth, “For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining” (I John 1:8). With all that is happening in our world, this can be a hard truth to imagine. Being able to believe the darkness is disappearing and the light of God’s truth is increasing seems to swim against the current of popular culture. When we pray in faith, as the Lord instructed us to pray for the manifestation of Heaven on Earth, the truth about God’s increasing Kingdom of light will begin to make more sense even when it seems insensible to a natural mind to believe the light is actually overtaking the darkness.
As the light of God’s truth displaces the darkness of deception, it will reveal a supernatural process that has been taking place since God first intervened in the redemptive process of humanity. The path of our individual and corporate expressions of faith have been shining brighter and brighter until the arrival of the full day of revelation (Proverbs 4:18) and as a result of the increasing brightness of the Church, the kingdoms of this world will eventually become the Kingdom of our Lord. (Revelation 11:15).
We are living in the increase of God. Take heart. It will be as Habakkuk prophesied, “For as the waters fill the sea, the earth will be filled with an awareness of the glory of the Lord” (2:14).
