As 2024 emerges, layers of deception will be stripped away from the Church. We will begin to see the depth of the bondage many believers have experienced and supported in their ignorance. In this process, the Lord will reveal a truth to His people regarding the hidden sin we have too easily accepted in our midst, “Her oppressors have become her masters” (Lamentations 1:5). What felt like freedom in the past became chains of oppression that bound us to lies and half-truths that became our masters.

Once this stripping away happens, not all who see what is taking place will be willing to change. The same pride that led them to accept the rule of their oppressing masters will remain in place. Only by living in humility and submission to God’s word can we become free from the influence of the false gods of culture and be willing to accept the rule and reign of Christ.  

2024 will bring increasing clarity within the Church. That clarity will not be a time of continued comfort or ease for those unwilling to change. The Lord is preparing His Church to move in great power and authority. To be prepared for such a move will require that we determine what master we will serve.
