There is a reason why the Church should never allow the defiance we see taking place against God to derail our faith. The Lord is creating something with that defiance.
The psalmist describes how God will disable the weapons of spiritual warfare by destroying the weaponry being used by the enemy to challenge the Lord and His truth. As this disarming takes place, the Lord will use it to form a judgment against all those who do evil and who are oppressing people with the lies of hell.
The Lord will turn the defiance of those opposed to God into a weapon to use against them. “Human defiance only enhances your glory for you use it as a weapon” (Psalm 76: 10). As the defiance of people hardens their hearts and increases in intensity, it will be turned against them to bring down their arguments and diminish the effect of their rebellion.
The deeper we move into a world held captive by confusion and rebellion the brighter the glory of God will appear in the lives of those who follow Him. Nothing will be able to stand in the presence of God’s glory.
Paul wrote about such times, “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet our inner person is being renewed day by day” (II Corinthians 4: 16). As we are afflicted by what opposes God and His truth, that affliction is producing in us “an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison” (vs. 17). This happens because “We are looking not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (vs. 18).
The word “glory” Paul used has been defined as a “weight.” It has substance. It is released each time we choose to follow and obey God’s truth in opposition to the defiance the world is manifesting against the Lord. This weight is so spiritually heavy that it will sink all the falsehoods being represented as truth. As we seek to glorify God in all aspects of our lives, our obedience will become the greatest weapon the Lord will use to magnify and display His glory.
We should not grow weary when we see increasing levels of defiance against God’s truth. That defiance will be used by the Lord to form a weapon of redemption that will lead people into all truth and into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Thank you Garris for being a voice in the wilderness! What you are articulating so well is what I believe and don’t have the words for! You are building , strengthening and encouraging the body of Christ who desperately need this right now. Too many voices are spewing lies, half truths.
