We all walk through life in a bubble. We define reality by what we see taking place within our limited personal understanding. When our bubble finally pops, it will reveal a much larger world we did not know existed.
The puncture of our bubble of assumptions takes place when revealed truth, either by Scripture or a word of prophecy, penetrates our isolation. It can also happen when a divorce, the death of a loved one, or a life-threatening disease interrupts our reality. Other punctures have national and global implications, some of which may happen at this time in history.
When our bubble does pop, and it will someday, the only safe way to interpret the broader landscape without a crippling fear taking over is to focus solely on Jesus. In that stark moment of exposure, as we fix our gaze on the Lord, the world around us will come into focus through the clarifying lens of the Spirit. Popping the bubble will prepare us to see what God sees.
We all operate on a myriad of presuppositions – generally, unrecognized assumptions about the world and how the Lord moves within it. The “reality” we perceive will be defined through the lens – or filter – created by those presuppositions. If we do not ask the Lord to correct, discard, confirm, the various filters through which we see and act, then the result of the bubble being popped, will be devastating. Your word is a good reminder to ask the Lord to help us see more as He sees – to align with His perspective. Thank you, Garris, for this reminder to have our minds renewed in Christ.
Amen Vance! Great word, Garris!
