Under the open heavens, on nights when the sky is clear, I look for the stars. With a sense of wonder and worship, I consider the Lord who created them. 

The beauty of creation gives us insight. It can reorder and right our thinking. The Psalmist wrote: For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything He does…”He merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. From the beginning of time to the end of all things, we can see His creative nature at work…for when He spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command” (Psalm 33:4, 6, 9).

As wars and rumors of wars fill the airwaves and a spirit of division, destruction, and death is demonstrated in the streets, we need wisdom and a hearing heart to be responsive to the Lord and be reminded to pray: “…let your unfailing love surround us, for our hope is in you alone” (vs. 22). 

Believing in and trusting Him and everything He does can be as simple as looking at Him. Looking at the Cross and identifying with Him in His death and resurrection (see John 3:14-15). Looking on the One who is our Hope. Looking at His word that holds true. Sometimes it is as simple as looking up and seeing the stars.
