The book of Isaiah is like reading what is happening in our nation and our world at this time in history. The prophet Isaiah has visions from God concerning Judah and Jerusalem. These strong words are for us as well. 

Isaiah began by saying, “Listen, O heavens! Pay attention, Earth! This is what the Lord says: ‘The children I raised and cared for have rebelled against me. Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its master’s care—but Israel doesn’t know its master. My people don’t recognize my care for them.’”

The people’s hands are stained with innocent blood. Their sin is not just behavior. It is a corruption of character. An accepted lifestyle of sin and rebellion that releases ruin. They have opened the door to be plundered and devoured by their enemies, leaving the country in ruins and the towns burned.

God continues: Must you rebel forever? Why are you running from me? Why do you keep doing the same thing, knowing that you will be hurt again? Why do you seek further injury? If you turn to me, I will bandage your wounds. I will bring you healing (See Isaiah 1:2-9). 

Our nation has also been going in the wrong direction. A generation has been raised in our universities to reject truth. We too have forgotten God’s word. There are only two masters—and it’s not you or me.

But God always has a message of hope. He calls for repentance and says: “Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows. Come now, let’s settle this…Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:17-19).

God sends His people out to seek the welfare of their nation and city (see Jeremiah 29:7). We are called to bless her with His message of truth. We stand against the spirit of division amongst the races and political parties and churches and the tide of hatred being perpetrated against our nation. We are to take a stand for justice, peace, prosperity, and restoration.
