We are called to enter the battle over our cities and lift them up higher. And there is a measurement we can use to discern the spiritual condition of our city, state, and nation:

Corporate godliness and righteousness (all that is just and right) brings a benefit to your city and nation. The blessing of favor rests on those who follow what is just and right. That blessing influences your city and releases strength and favor to your city. Evil leaders tear a city apart by their words. But leaders who love true justice will lift your city up higher.

“God-devotion makes a country strong; God-avoidance leaves people weak” (see Proverbs 11:10-11; 14:34 MSG). 

Without an increase in godliness, we are in a process of spiritual decline. Regardless of the wealth, influence, and power we attach to our current condition in our nation—it will be a sinking mission without truth and justice. It’s like a majestic battleship whose hull has been penetrated by missiles. Sin opens up holes of compromise and outright lies, heaping disgrace on the land.

Only our devotion to God can keep our spiritual hull safe and uncompromised. Only devotion to Him brings the blessing of His favor. If we want His favor on our land, we can’t just sit back and let people bent on our destruction take the helm.

We are called to be salt and light in every arena of our society. Pray for and intercede for godly judges, lawyers, government leaders, school board leaders, church leaders. Be a godly leader in our home, our workplace, our community and our nation.
