Living by the Spirit’s Impulse

Romans 8:5 tells us: “But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities” (TPT). The word “impulses” jumped out at me and captured in words what I have been experiencing as I learn how God prompts us to live.

Jan and I—and many of our friends—have sensed a shift taking place in the spiritual realm. While we have tried to live by the impulses of God’s Spirit all of our lives, it has become even more vital lately. These impulses are not always dramatic, many times they are simply a nudge from God. They direct our attention to what God is doing in a particular moment in history.

Living only in response to the impulse of the Spirit will position us to walk more closely with Him, experiencing a deeper oneness and greater sensitivity to what is happening in the world around us.
