PERSPECTIVE IS EVERYTHING

In a moment of prayer, I saw the image of a follower of Jesus walking through a landscape filled with castles. These were not tall and majestic stone castles like the ones you would see on a vacation in Europe. They were small, knee-high castles resembling a child’s toy. These castles represented the thrones of power and authority within the kingdoms of the world. The believer I saw walking past the castles dwarfed their authority because of the Spirit they carried.

Peace for a believer comes from knowing that Jesus is the supreme Lord over all. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. We experience a lack of peace when we think Jesus is somehow in competition with the thrones of power in this world. In His death, resurrection, and enthronement, He overcame everything that stands against goodness and truth. This understanding gave the believer in the image I saw the confidence to move past the threats and dominion the small castles represented. The person kept moving forward unhindered, unaffected, and undeterred in their mission.

Today, as your presence and message challenge the thrones of earthly authority, don’t allow your peace to be robbed by fear or fretting over what you see or the threats directed at you from the spokesmen of these lesser kingdoms. No matter how dark a situation might appear or how heated the opposition might become, put it all in perspective to the majesty of Jesus. A day will come when all forms of earthly authority will bow their knee to the One who has overcome all things. Until then, be at peace and keep moving forward.

Brilliant post, Garris – thank you so much.

A friend once wrote that IF Solomon were writing Proverbs today, there would be a “Chapter 0 – the vital necessity of developing a Kingdom perspective.” Solomon, raised at King David’s table, and surrounded by godly people who were discipline Israel to become a Kingdom Nation (first nation in history to be developed) were discussing decisions, policies, programs and principles by which people would experience the full benefits and responsibilities of living out a Covenant.

May WE each press in and learn what it means to “Seek first the KINGDOM of God – and His righteousness.”
