When we pile on a perceived error the truth gets buried. This piling on can resemble a football game where the ball is in the hands of one of the players at the bottom of the heap. The officials referring the game must remove each person from the pile to find the ball. It is humbling to watch the Spirit at work in times of conflict within the Church. He has the profound ability to pull apart opposing opinions to finally reveal who actually holds the truth and where it is aligned on the playing field of faith.

Piling on never accomplishes anything. It is typically a knee-jerk reaction of an undisciplined spirit. Avoid it at all costs because prematurely judging an issue will strip away your credibility. A premature judgment reveals the absence of the patience and wisdom that defines a mature person who lives under the influence of the God’s Spirit.
