While the devil is a hungry devourer “prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour” (I Peter 5:8), something far more profound is taking place. People who are living in prisons of deception and despair who are easy prey for the devil have been prayed upon receiving prayers of intervention, words of hope, and declarations of freedom.
Those prayers have the authority and power to drive away the devourer when it seems in the natural that the victims are forever lost and resemble a lamb tethered to a stake with no way of escape. No spiritual predatory spirit can withstand the effect of a single prayer uttered from a person aligned with the heart of God. “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).
Jan and I have felt with increasing assurance that prodigals will be returning home miraculously transformed. Prophetic words of hope offered in the distant past will enter this moment in time to be fulfilled. The Church will experience a breathtaking revival that will impact the future direction of our nation, all because of the accumulated prayers of the saints that destroyed the devouring plans of hell.
This is a new day. It is new because it is a day of fulfillment. Our prayers are being poured out under the direction and specific timing of God. This is a time of intervention, a precise moment in history as the prowling lion of hell prepares to sink his teeth into what appears to be helpless prey. He will bite, but no prey will be present to fall victim to his fatal attack.
This is timely encouragement for me and many others. I have three adult kids who were raised with a knowledge of Jesus, who worshipped Jesus most Sundays of their childhood…but who are now showing zero interest in being heartfelt followers of Him today. My prayer is that they too will be drawn through my prayers — and those of the Church as a whole, to love Jesus with their whole hearts. ❤️ I know I’m not in this “parental” boat alone…thank you for this encouragement today.
Diane, Two of my 4 kids were and are in the same place as your 3….but I will always believe they will return to, or come to know, the Lord. My prayers are for mighty men and women of God for all 4! I’ll add yours to my prayers for mine! 😀

I, myself was prey. My grandmother prayed for me. God arranged for this prodigal to desire to return home. Which I did.

When things are close up, it is a challenge to stand on God’s words and sometimes to get them even prayed. And then again, we still have the intercession of Jesus on our behalf. Thank you for writing this profound word and truth–and for listening to Holy Spirit well. I am reminded often, when I drive or walk past someone, they may not have that “one” person or prayer for them. Offering them to Jesus in a quick prayer is still powerful. The body of Christ is a mighty vessel, walking this earth, calling out in prayer for those we love and those we are complete strangers with. May my/our prayers become many–for the many.
