I just checked out our local news cycle. It seems the battles in Israel and the incursion into Gaza are getting less and less attention. It’s not unusual. We need to rise higher in our understanding of what is happening to discern the heart of God. It is always about Jesus Christ.
“This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the Lord: This message is from the Lord, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit. I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes the nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah” (Zechariah 12:1-2).
What you and I are seeing in Israel is an immovable rock that nations are attempting to move and discredit. There was a rock in Jerusalem that young men would attempt to move. The rock represents the coming Messiah – the immovable rock. The nations coming against Israel are not part of the back-and-forth drama of the news we are seeing being played out by our favorite news outlet. These surrounding nations are being used in an attempt to dislodge the Messiah.
As nations are surrounding Israel and struggling against the rock, and as the time for the Lord’s return comes upon us, Scripture tells us, “On that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock. All the nations will gather against it to try to move it, but they will only hurt themselves” (Zechariah 12:3).
While the surrounding nations try to move the rock of their offense, the coming Messiah, they will only hurt themselves. Keep your attention on Jesus. While so many things are confusing, by watching the Lord will come a simple kind of clarity that makes all that is happening find its place in the history of the Church. It is always about Him.
Rise higher than the interpretations of people that only align us with a worldview, not the view of heaven upon the Earth. It has always been about the Messiah, Jesus Christ. It is His revelation that the opposition is coming against. Focus on the Lord and so many things will begin to make more sense as our world is moving toward a final and definite outcome – the coming of the Lord.
