We toss about phrases like “standing on a threshold” or “on the verge” with ease. These are many times offered as hopeful declarations, not really knowing what they mean. To truly stand on a threshold or be on the verge of something significant will change the meaning of those words.
I once stood on the threshold of the Oval Office in Washington, D.C. My visit was not the result of being part of a tour group. A friend of mine who knew one of the presidential correspondence secretaries offered us a late-night, after-hours tour of the Whitehouse. It was just the three of us.
When we arrived at the Oval Office, the door was open. We were told we could only enter by invitation. My friend and I and the secretary leaned our heads into the room to look inside at the seat of power of the most influential person on Earth. We only paused for a few moments, but I can still feel the sense of power and authority that existed on the other side of the threshold of the door.
Knowing what it felt like that night standing on the threshold of the Oval Office reminded me of what it is like to be on the threshold of something significant in the realm of the Spirit. It is too easy to be caught up in emotional issues that demand their attention, energy, and resources. These issues keep us away from the threshold. When God is doing something new that new thing is not always realized when our attention is so divided and displaced.
We are standing at the threshold of a new epoch of the Kingdom of God and the Lord wants us to sense its impending release. He is inviting us to stand on the threshold of what is coming so that we can refocus our lives to align with the plans of Heaven. So much that occupied our time and resources in the past will soon fade away and be replaced by what is truly significant.
the emergence of something new is beginning to take place. It is spilling over the threshold of revelation and announcing the intentions of God. If you are one who realizes we are standing on such a threshold, as you wait on the Lord for His instructions, lean your understanding across the threshold into the presence of the Lord and listen. You will hear His heart and strategy for this new and unprecedented season we are about to enter. Just like it was for me in the natural to stand on the threshold of the Oval Office, so it will be for you in the Spirit as you stand at the threshold of revelation in awe anticipating what the Lord will do. That awe and anticipation will reprioritize every area of your life.
Interesting post and the timing…
This describes my feelings for the past 48 hours or so. Reading about and seeing what is happening in the natural is drawing me closer to the Lord to ask, what is my response to what you are up to?
My wife and I are also standing on the threshold to see what He is showing us about selling our home and moving out of state to be closer to family and grandkids in Tennessee.
Thanks for this.
I STAND..
Yes & Amen! Oh may we hear you well Lord.
