Jesus is about to surprise many who have relegated Him to the image of a robed monk who calmly strolls through culture with an other-worldly appearance unruffled by the injustice and cruelty He sees created by governments and institutions of religion. While Jesus did say His Kingdom is not of this world, He did not mean it would not influence this world. Jesus has a mission to bring truth and justice to earthly institutions and governments, creating on Earth what is present in the environment of Heaven.
While my wife, Jan, was in the process of proofing the third volume of her four-volume set of blessings from the book of Isaiah, she shared some of her research with me regarding how Jesus is defined.
Regarding Jesus, Scripture tells us “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
Hebrew language scholars have defined the word “Prince” as a “Warrior” or “Commander.” It refers to a warring prince who wrestles, wars, governs, and rules. The root of the word “Shalom” (peace) in reference to Jesus means “the One who deals with the authority of chaos.” Jesus deals with the ruling authorities of chaos in our world so He can legislate and govern His peace by interfering with their evil plans by employing the superior power and authority gained by His death and resurrection.
Jesus was promised an inheritance by the Father. “Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession” (Psalm 2:8). By the power of the Spirit and through our cooperation with Him, the Lord will eventually possess the nations of Earth as His inheritance, and as a result, those nations will become part of our inheritance.
When our efforts to bring about the harvest of the Great Commission have reached the limit of human effort and ability, the Lord will intervene and demonstrate His love and power. This will be demonstrated in ways that will cause the world to be shocked at the rapidity and the depth of personal and cultural transformation that takes place when chaos is displaced by God’s peace. The Lord’s intervention will be the most visible evidence that The Great Awakening is upon us.
Indeed, Jesus is the King of kings and rules sovereignly upon His throne. Yet, as you accurately pointed out. He is the Prince of Peace, the Mighty Warrior fit for battle that actively engages in warfare to establish His peace upon the earth.
Yours in Christ,
Apostle Jonathan Khan.
