It would be interesting to take a poll to see how many of us have been influenced by a parent, teacher, or friend who was willing to admit a mistake and ask for forgiveness—someone with a teachable heart who taught us by example what it meant to have integrity.

There are two pathways we can take (see Proverbs 4:10-19): 

We can walk the path of integrity, but that requires the wisdom to keep receiving a course correction, no matter how hard it is to swallow. Correction is essential and pivotal to keep us on the path or to get us back on the path. God’s correction “takes us by the hand in wisdom’s ways and points us to the path of integrity.”

We can walk the path of darkness. Without a course correction, it is easy to take a detour into darkness. But even setting foot on that path is dangerous. Wisdom tells us not to do as the troublemakers do or follow the path of those involved in evil. They travel on their path but don’t have a clue why they keep stumbling. “Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way. Turn away and keep moving.” 

In each weekly gathering of the Church at Living Waters (Medford, OR), we’ve been listening to a testimony of someone witnessing God’s interventions and/or course corrections that helped them get on His path or stay on it. Their courage emboldens, warns, and encourages us to walk in the light, instead of living a life in the shadows.

Listen to Wisdom:

           If you will take time to listen to Me

           and embrace what I say, you will truly live.

           Get wisdom and understanding

           and you will be honored.

           When you walk with Me,

           your progress will have no limits,

           your steps will not be hindered.
