As I was reading through Revelation, I came upon similar language to what the Lord spoke on the Cross when He said, “It is finished.” “Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture, he said, ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar of sour wine was sitting...
For the last few decades, theories and assumptions about the book of Revelation and the timing of its events have been taught to the Church. It has been a pick-and-choose exercise, leaving out some of what is described in John's writing, assigning it to the past or as...
I hear, both in the corporate world and within leadership circles in the Church, the phrase, "Taking someone to the next level." Entire courses of instruction and counseling are developed to take someone to whatever "the next level" means. That next level is defined...
In 1903, Henry Ford’s lawyer was given some bad advice. He was advised not to buy stock in the Ford Motor Company. A local bank president told Ford’s lawyer, “The horse is here to stay.” The lawyer wisely ignored that advice and bought $5,000 worth of stock selling it...
Last Sunday, Jan and I were speaking at Empowered Life Church in Talent, Oregon. My friend, Ivan Roman, is the pastor of the church. He was in New York on a speaking engagement, so he asked me to cover the preaching assignment in his absence. As we began to worship,...
In your present suffering, God has given you an advantage. Discovering the nature of that advantage will change everything, especially the pain you now feel. A few days ago, I wrote an article titled, “Interpreting the Sounds of Groaning” from Roman Chapter 8. I...
One of the great challenges for a follower of Jesus Christ is living in a place of spiritual tension between seeing individuals or representatives of a government involved, even promoting, lies and evil, and wanting them to come to know the Lord. That place of tension...
There is a level of despair that cannot be expressed with words. It is a guttural utterance emanating from a person who is at the end of their rope not knowing what to do next. It's a sound made when people experience the unexpected loss of a loved one, the betrayal...
Be careful not to prematurely judge a person or a word that creates a disruption of a long-held assumption. Those who create these disruptions might be carrying a message from God intended to protect and deliver those willing to examine the message to determine its...
Some of you are living under the weight of unfounded accusations and threats of revenge. A turning point will take place where the voice of your accusers will be silenced, and their plans for revenge will fail. The Lord is coming to your rescue. This morning, as I was...
We like to talk, even prophesy, about the sudden moves of God. The consideration of those sudden moves produces hope-filled conversations and raises our eyes to the horizon of the future in expectancy of what God might do. There is another kind of suddenly. That...
We have been asked to believe that protective backstops in all aspects of our society are in place to prevent injury. This belief has left some people trusting in backstops that have significant holes in their promise to protect and in some cases, are completely...
A shift is taking place in the Church that will create increasing levels of hope as the financial condition of nations descends deeper into expressions of failure and resulting despair. For the first time last week, I saw one quadrillion dollars in print,...
On Easter morning in 1958 at the end of the Sunday service at Calvary Baptist Church in Los Gatos, California, I walked down the aisle responding to the invitation offered by Dr. Blaine Bishop to receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I walked forward carrying a seed of...
I have a sense something is about to happen that will be very unusual and for some, unexpected. This unusual and unexpected event or series of events will create a turnaround for something that when originally announced, was believed by only a few. What was previously...
