We can become too flippant about the failure of leaders within our nation and within the Church, thinking their failed leadership can simply be ignored. It can't. Permissive evil in any form and in any position will cause those who are being led to interpret their...
There are times in our lives when we will be unable to make a physical crossing from one season to the next, but we can still make a spiritual crossing. It becomes a spiritual crossing if we are willing to send someone or something of value with those who will make...
Yesterday, I wrote about Solomon's great wealth and the amazement of the Queen of Sheba, who saw how wisely he ruled with justice and righteousness. But those qualities did not last for long. Solomon had a weakness for women. He began to marry foreign women outside...
Satan is not wise enough to see how God can cause his evil plans to backfire. He is so filled with pride and self-delusion that the very attacks he brings upon the Church will end up expanding the Kingdom of God instead of silencing and limiting its influence. The...
This week, my brother had open heart surgery. The procedure created two bypasses. Leading up to and during the surgery all of those in our extended family, and friends of my brother were praying. He did fine and it looks like he is on the road to a full recovery. I...
We read in Scripture about standing for God. That stance demonstrates courage, something we all need to exhibit when the truth is clear, and under attack. In an uncertain moment when an attack begins, and we don’t know its source, ducking under the line of fire is a...
As it happens on some mornings, I will write something and just when I am ready to publish the content, I get a pause from the Lord. It’s not a pause regarding the content of what I had written. It is a pause that has to do with the timing of its release making way...

When Jan and I worked in Eastern Europe, I was taught a lesson I will never forget. One Sunday, I was preaching in a former Communist nation. As worship began, I placed my bible on the floor under my chair. Immediately, an old man came to where I was sitting. He...
The challenges we may soon face will require a tough faith. The terrain of what is before us will not be navigated by a weak and untested faith. A tough faith is a reliable faith able to ascend and descend unfamiliar and uneven spiritual terrain. Twenty years ago, a...
Not all who have been called to engage in spiritual warfare will assume their position in the battle. Some no longer believe such battles exist. They have stepped away from the conflict abdicating their role in defending truth. God is calling those with a willing...
The enemy of our soul has laid before us booby traps of deception. These spiritual booby traps appeal to our pride and naivety. Pride leads us into a place of vulnerability and then our naivety has us open the door to a well-planned attack that can take us out because...
